The "Talking Drum" is a West African Hourglass Drum whose pitch can be regulated to mimic the tone & rhythm of human speech.
The drums were traditionally used to pass detailed messages faster than a person riding a horse. The signals represent the tones of a conventional phrase & are highly poetic in character.
Recently Talking drums have been used by Rock groups such as King Crimson & in the PSP Game series Patapon the player is a god who communicates with their followers using four talking drums
